5 Rupees' doctors in Chennai died. The real mersal man has passed away.

Everyone has seen “MERSAL” Movie Starred BY Thalapathy Vijay.

A role in that film called “5 rupees doctor” which made goosebumps, because that is impossible to serve people with this tiny amount.

What if this character is in actual life?

Dr. Thiruvengadam is the only legend who has served people at a low cost. He has also given amount to his patients for other uses. That’s an exceptional man has been dead yesterday.

    Who is Dr. Thiruvengadam Veeraraghavan?

He chose his profession as an inspiration from his uncle A. Murugesan and Kanniappan, they are Siddha medicine practicers

He is alumina at Government Stanley Medical College. Many other people after the release of “Mersal" identified him.

    He is a doctor.

He served for Underprivileged people in Chennai for the past 40+ years.

In Vyasarpadi, Chennai (North Chennai) he gave medication and medicines at a very low cost. Every century there is always some percentage of people who struggle to get satisfied and standard medication and medical facilities.

In this world, he has served 45 years as a “5 rupees doctor” and served people wholeheartedly, and that’s an exceptional life led by him. Now he is 70 years old.

    Family:

5 Rs. doctor: Dr. Thiruvengadam Veeraragavan

His wife: T Saraswathi [Former Railway Employee]

    Daughter: T Preethi (Doctor)

Son: T Dipak (A last year Medical student in Mauritius).

    His struggle in life?

He has come across many struggles in his life.

Despite it, he continued his services and hasn’t negotiated with his professional. During the 2015 floods, he has lost everything he had at that period.

But still, he continues to do his service in the same place in Vyasarpadi from 1973 to now. Most medics or doctors would hesitate to have a low interest in Dress the wounds caused by Leprosy.

    What is Leprosy?

Hansen’s disease or leprosy Which is caused by Mycobacterium leprae. This affects the skin, respiratory, Mucosal surfaces, etc.

Without enough resources to treat it, he also treated it. WITHOUT ENOUGH resources, also, he gave his best treatment to his people.

He raised his fee from 2 to 5 rupees, which too was a request from his patients. When he got a very low rate for consulting people every other nearby doctor urged him to get at least 100 for each patient.

    But he refused it.

After that incident, he has fixed no fees; he accepted whatever fees (That may be as food exchange or snacks or whatever they are capable of) that his patients wish to give mostly he refuses to get fees from his patients.

Everyone can hear the store about lack of selfishness [Selflessness] but he lived as an inspiration for it.

    Kalvi kan Thirandha kamarajar: (கல்வி கான்திரந்த கமராஜர்):

How a man can be this much love toward his society or his profession.

Everyone has come across a tradition that all students who score high marks in their schooling would say “I will study MBBS and serve people in needs

These words haven’t been in actual life yet (Before I heard about him).

What is h the one which made him do so?

Yes, he is one of the students who got a free education from the schemes of K Kamaraj (Chief Minister)

This ignited him to serve society at no cost.

Powerful ideas come from powerful places”

What happened to 5 Rupees, Doctor?

They admitted him (First he went to the hospital for a corona test and he tested negative) in a hospital [Southern Railway Hospital] on August-13 as he said to his daughter that he has been suffering from Chest pain. On that day at 12.05 pm, he has a massive cardiac attack, and he died.

    His work?

He has done huge respect toward his profession and to his society.

He didn’t go to his hospital since march month of this year. He instructed (advice for their recovery) through his mobile phones to his regular patients.

    His Assistant?

He has an assistant named “S Boobalan”. He was a dropped out student from his school in class 10. He used to give tokens for patients.

When he joined as an assistant with Dr. Thiruvengadam, he got Rupees 5 as a fee. The doctor used to get rupees 2 as a fee when he started his profession. He was working as an assistant for about the past 25 years.

    CONCLUSION:

Let us wait for years to find another selfless man who serves society. If you know any persons like this then mention them in the comment section. let everyone know about them.
